Welcome to 2F's blog page! This year will be a true experimentation with blogging. I will seek to communicate with you classroom occurences throughout the year. My hope is that this will allow you to have a more in depth look at what our school day looks like and what your children are learning. I will also attempt to keep you abreast of important classroom activities. I am very excited to be learning something new and to be giving you a peek into our classroom.

3D Shapes

Wow! Today was a very active day in Math. We began our time discussing 3D shapes and learned words like vertices, faces, edges and base. We then used these new words when comparing and contrasting different shapes. The students were asked to work cooperatively in order to complete a large venn diagram of similarities and differences. Students were thinking critically about the shapes that they had been assigned and came up with some extraordinary conclusions. I was extremely excited when students presented their venn diagrams. The students had internalized the new vocabulary words and had successfully used them to describe the features of their shapes. Students were on task and excited about the learning process. We also set up 2F's Shape Museum. Tomorrow, we will be taking a quick peek at the various shapes present in the museum. In addition, we will be creating pyraminds using straws and twist ties. My hope is that students are learning not only from me, but from their peers as well. Thank you in advance to Mrs. Melton who will be coming in to help us construct our pyramids. I will attempt to take pictures tomorrow and post them soon.
